Multiple file/mime types for files with the same extension

Postby pudIna on Fri Mar 15, 2013 12:42 pm

I am using Mint13 and in both nautilus and nemo, arranging files by type arranges them by the file/mime type and not by the file extension. Here is the strange thing, some of the files with .aux extension have the file/mime type as "text/x-tex" while some others with the same extension are showing up as "text/plain". I am not sure why that would happen. I even added a new mime type to /etc/mime,types with
Code: Select all
text/x-aux               aux

but I see no change in the file propertes of .aux files.
