Would like ideas about desktop customization

As long as its alright with the mods, post some screens of your desktops. I'm fairly new to the gui in linux as I work 100% command line at work, but I'm finally running it at home more than windows and would like to start customizing it. No offense to the designers of Mint, but the default is fairly ugly to me and I know gnome can do a lot more with or without beryl installed. And I didnt want to place this in the gui category because Im not limiting it to just gnome or kde or xfce. So guys...whatcha got?
