Sky anytime on PC's

Post by cakehead »

I e-mailed sky the other week to ask why they don't support Linux with Sky Anytime, this is their reply:

Thank you for your email concerning Sky Anytime on PC.

I can confirm that customers who are registering for Sky Anytime on PC via a non- Windows XP computer will find that you are not given the option to
download the application.

What they mean is: If you want to use the software you have to BUY Window$

Sky has selected Windows XP as the operating system of choice to launch Sky Anytime on PC. Taking into account the features of Sky Anytime on PC, we feel that Windows XP best meets the needs and expectations of our customers, particularly when watching videos on your PC.

What they mean is: Sky have done a deal with Microsoft as the BBC did a few months ago which makes use of DRM that is built into Window$ but not in Linux

There are no firm plans to expand compatibility to other operating system at this time. However, we will always consider customer feedback in our plans to enhance the product in the future.

What they mean is: Sky will never have any intention of supporting any other OS as Bill Gates has the contract and Microsoft want to get rid of any competition.

Should you require further assistance, please contact me on the above email
address or contact Sky Anytime on PC customer services on 0870 609 4508.

Yours sincerely

Customer Relations Department

So that is the BBC and Sky all tied up within Micro$ofts DRM scheme, it makes my blood boil when someone tries to tell me what I can and can't do with MY computer and software.
