I just replaced Ubuntu Dapper with Linux Mint Bianca but now I don't know how to set up an internet connection.
With Dapper I had found a guide for my Ericsson hm120dp usb modem which worked perfectly.
I hope that the same instructions will work also for Linux Mint but I have a problem: I need to install the build-essential package before using the files downloaded from the Eciadsl.flashtux.org website.
I there any way for me to get that package (and dependencies) using an XP internet connection?
If I remember correctly, with Dapper I had used an add-on cd; would it be possible to do same now, using the same cd?

Mint is based on Ubuntu, at the moment Edgy, so just about anything that works in Ubuntu works in Mint and the other way round. Mint has a different design, more in the repositories and some useful apps like Mintdisk which separates it from Ubuntu.
Yes, you can download thru XP, if it's only a download that's needed and yes, you can use the same CD unless something happened between Dapper and Edgy.

I have a follow up question.
Of course I will try first with the Ubuntu Dapper add-on cd ((I'll have to download it again).
In case that procedure wouldn't work, where can I find the build-essential package (and all the dependencies) on the internet?
I must have read months ago that the repositories are available on a specific website, but I can't remember the URL anymore.
And once I have downloaded the package to a specific folder on my PC, how can I install it? With Synaptic I guess, but I don't know the specific steps to it, maybe burn it to a cd and then add it using Synaptic?

As to the address I don't know for a separate download - you have to search a little.
I suppose you are to add the packages to a working Bianca (I read your post so)
Then when you've downloaded in XP move the packages to Bianca. As far as I know they are in the .deb format so you just double click to get the install started. Afterwards you find them in synaptics. There is also an option in Synaptics under Archive to add packages.
