Laptop Battery Drains Faster in Mint than Ubuntu

Postby avifreemind on Fri Jun 13, 2014 3:31 am

Hello Minty People.
I was using Ubuntu previously on my Acer Aspire laptop and my battery could be used up to 3 hours.
Since I installed Mint 17, my battery doesn't hold more than 1.5 hours.
Any solutions?
Is there something in Mint which works different from Ubuntu?
Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hello, avifreemind.

Well, Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu. Yet, there is more than one Ubuntu release and there is more than one Linux Mint release. So, in order to make an educated guess why the energy consumption is so high on Linux Mint 17, it would be helpful to know this:
+ You are currently using Linux Mint 17. Which edition 32-bit ? 64-bit? Which desktop environment?
+ The Ubuntu you compare this to is which version exactly? 32-bit? 64-bit? Which desktop environment?

Kind regards,
Karl

Hi Karl,
I was using Ubuntu 64-bit (14.04).
I recently installed Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon.

Thanks,
Avi
