Power Managent-Power Button && Keyboard co-ordinations

Postby SJLPHI on Fri Jun 27, 2014 1:23 pm

Hello

I have been using LM16~17 as of May and so far I am greatly impressed but I have to say I have used the OS on three different machines and each of them the interfaces are different from one another. A big improvement from 16 to 17 was that the 17 was readily compatible to my netbook's wifi antenna so I didn't have to do anything to have the system up and running.

Lately I have invested on a Lenovo T410S

i5 core M-560 2.63GHZ dual
4GB Ram
220GB conventional HDD

this laptop is a refurbished and from the beginning I wiped out given Win7Pro then installed LM17 only. I have ran in to bumps here and there trying to configure many things because this is the only machine that has 64 bit version instead of 32 bit installed.

Something I found today during customization/optimization is that in the power managment everything works
EXCEPT
action on what to do when power button is pressed.
I have set it to:/Result
Suspend/Nothing
Hibernate/Nothing
Shutdown/Nothing
Ask/Nothing

conclusively the power button does nothing but turn the machine on from off state.

I also find that the "Mic off" button doesn't work but "Fn-binded" keys all work.
There are also two keys next to "up arrow" key on my machine
they have symbols that seem to be "paged file left" and "paged file right"
they currently do nothing.

Seen in this image:

I have been trying to bind them to switching Workspace but without success because I have no idea how to bind the keys on LM17.

Also Input Method give out:

Current configuration for the input method:
* Active configuration: missing (normally missing)
* Automatic configuration: none (normally ibus or fcitx or uim)
* Number of valid choices: 1 (normally 1)
The configuration set by im-config is activated by re-starting X.
Explicit selection is not required to enable the automatic configuration if the active one is default/auto/cjkv/missing.

then after I press "ok" then "yes" to customizing inputs I have no clue how to use it affter.

I would like to know if there is a proper method to map the keyboard for individiual machines while keeping working auto-setup.

Thank you for your time

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Also, I am finding that Mouse recognition process during boot is very erratic.

Sometimes it recognizes the touchpad and the ultranav as "PS/2 generic mouse"

This is driving me nuts because I am rebooting several times just to get the right type of mouse recognized

EDIT: I have found temporary solution that I can run in terminal everytime I have the issues:
sudo modprobe -r psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse

http://askubuntu.com/questions/127884/t ... enovo-t520

Unplugging and Plugging the mouse.

I have entered this into my startup applications and it works like charm.

My question would be that Is there a more-permanent solution?

I would like to ask an Admin to move this thread over to the Hardware support section.
