what if I remove the mint-desktop and install ubuntu-desktop? I have been having so many bad devise error, and I have incompatiblity errors that I think it best to switch back to ubuntu and just use automatix to get the programs I love about mint.

Hi Penquin,
Mint Desktop or MintMenu?. What type of errors did you have?, maybe the problem is not that hard to fix.

errors in wine and when using UCK like bad device error. I did occasionally get these errors in Ubuntu, but only when I upgraded to 6.10. (in case you were wondering I did a clean install of mint)
