Adding and Removing modules permanently?

Postby pr3@ch3r on Thu Mar 22, 2007 2:36 pm

I finally got my wireless working with wpa, and I need to find away to make my modprobe changes to lsmod permanent.

Each time I reboot I have to modprobe -r acx and then modprobe ndiswrapper.

I'm not sure where to go from here? I ran depmod as well with ndiswrapper, do I need to edit /lib/modules or something? Thanks for any and all help.
You know what the RHCT certification means? I can break a Redhat server faster than you can.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Ok found the fix:

the module you dont want to load, you need to add the blacklist

root@linuxpwnsjo0:~# nano -S /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

(add an entry with the term blacklist and the name of the module like this)

blacklist acx

then if ndiswrapper -m did not work add an entry like the following

root@linuxpwnsjo0:~# nano -S /etc/modprobe.d/aliases

alias wlan0 ndiswrapper

taadaaa
