Hey
I have a laptop that I have recently install Linux Mint 17.1 and it works great. However I want to use my big screen as a monitor on ocassions. Worked fine with windows XP, but now with linux the vga setting only will display the linux background on TV screen. Does not matter what site I am on the laptop, all that displays on TV is Linux Mint background - no icons either.. Any advise?

You will need to get into the display settings and choose the mirror option

I went into software Source...How do I know which mirror to choose?

In the system settings you should be able to find display settings to change the behavior of the other display. I think the default setting is for the second monitor to extend the desktop to the right so if you drag a window to the right of the primary monitor it will show on the second one
