Scanner/USB problem

Postby Husse on Fri Apr 06, 2007 11:47 am

I have a multifunction printer Brother DCP 7010. It prints just fine (through USB) but scanning does not work (I've posted earlier) I have made a complete and hopefully correct install of the scanner.
lsusb gives:
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 04f9:0182 Brother Industries, Ltd
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

but when I run xscanimage I get an error message that says:
Failed to open device `brother2:bus2;dev1': Error during device I/O

So the scanner is bus1:dev2 but xscanimage (and Impress) finds it as bus2:dev1. The scanner appears on bus1 in all connectors. I can't find some settings in the programs to change to bus1.
I could make a complete reinstall, but I have a hunch that won't solve the problem.
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
