How to apply this Alsa patch?

Postby rozojc on Mon Apr 23, 2007 12:00 am

Hi,
I have a question regarding an ALSA patch... I have a compaq V3000 series notebook, and I have managed almost everything to work except for the microphone, and I'm needing it desperetly...

I read in a page specifically about the v3000 series that I need to apply an alsa patch found here: http://hg-mirror.alsa-project.org/alsa- ... 3c40816730
but I have no idea whatsoever of how to apply it... that link shows me a list of 3 files, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do in order to apply them...

Does anyone know? please help!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

If you don't know what these files are and can not read the patch file below them I would stop now and look/wait for a deb package to be released that fixes your audio problem with an easy synaptic update.

these files are patching an existing driver and recompiling it, ie you have compiled the driver before and here is an update.

now don't shoot the messenger.

Sorry to say so, but in this case this topic is too advanced for you :D

Most likely you'd be supposed to be using those files with the patch program (please Google around) and then patch and recompile the sources - the presence of the Makefile seems to indicate that a compilation via the make command has to take place at one point.

This is fairly advanced stuff and I don't recommend this to newcomers. Better wait until they release the next (and patched!) version via the repos.
