LinuxMint-2.2-KDE ISO Burning Problem

Postby aventis on Fri Apr 27, 2007 4:20 am

Hi,

I downloaded LinuxMint-2.2-KDE ( 808 mb ) ISO , the release notes on website says it`s a DVD but when I try to burn the file to a DVD the burners ( got 2 dvd writers ) ejects the DVD with error that the type of file ( compilation as NERO says ) needs a CDR/RW to burn the image to.

I don`t have any blank CDR/RW with capacity more than 700mb neither it`s available in market, so how do I burn this image to a DVD ( if it`s a dvd file as website says ) ?

Please help.

regards,

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

It is a DVD - check the settings in Nero.
Do you know how to burn ISO files?
In my Nero (old version in XP pro that I still have around) you go into "Archive > Burn Image"
And have you checked the MD5 sum?

how do I burn this image to a DVD

One evening I ran out of CD-R discs, but I had a full spool of DVD-Rs. Nero 6 complained about burning a CD image onto a DVD disc.

So, I downloaded DVD Decryptor, which is mainly intended to decode DVDs, but it can also burn a CD/DVD image file (ISO) onto any writable disc with appropriate capacity. It's free software, though runs under MS Windows.

I haven't yet tinkered with Linux-based CD/DVD burner software.

LinuxMint-2.2-KDE ISO Burning Problem

Postby aventis on Fri Apr 27, 2007 5:50 am

Thanks for replying, I am using linux for last many years and have burned hunderds of images to cds/dvds either with NERO or k3b and it works fine always, I don`t know what`s wrong this time, I have set/checked NERO settings many times,md5sums are correct but media ( blank dvd ) is not accepted by writers, saying the type of file/compilation needs cdr/rw.

Any guess/suggestion what mistake im doing in settings of NERO?

Thanks,

Sorry - no. It should just burn if you use Archive>Burn ISO
(or what ever the option is called)
