Ops!

Postby DFergATL on Wed Jul 25, 2007 5:12 am

Oh boy, I goofed. I can't log into my regular userID anymore.. The system just hangs on starting windows manager. GNOME Failsafe works fine. If I understand correctly the basic diference is that Failsafe doesn't run the user Startup script(s). So, how do I copy the ones from Failsafe over to my normal account? Or otherwise reset my startup script??? I really don't want to have to reinstall again..

This is a misunderstanding. You log into your normal account - it's just that the startup scripts are not read.
You have them in your home directory (hidden folders)
There are three directories ".gnome" and
.gconf/apps/gnome-settings

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
