Update breaks compiz fusion

This morning I was greeted by an update icon in my system tray.

I wish I could remember what the updates were, I remember one was for daylight savings time, and the others I can't recall, there were about 4.

Well, after the update a reboot was required.

After the reboot the only part of my desktop that I can see is the upper left quadrant.

I tried restarting X, didn't change.

rebooting didn't help.

Any ideas?

If you have Cassandra there is nothing in the updates the last days that would effect "the video subsystem". Stop Beryl/compiz and use metacity. If you are ok then we have narrowed the area....
Beryl is in synaptics so you could reinstall it

Yeah, I'm going back to Beryl, it seems to be more stable, and I know it's quicker.
