Any way to turn off Tooltips (that actually works)?

I'm really starting to hate tooltips with a passion. I have searched here and elsewhere and can't find a solution that works.

Tried the /apps/panel/global/tooltips_enabled key in the config editor.

Tried the Beryl window attribute trick.

Neither worked. There has got to be a way to turn those darn things off! Help!

Does anyone know a way to really turn off the pop-up tooltips globally?

Thanks, TIm

The window attribute trick - is this it?

Other than that I only find what you've found - seems to be burried deep down somewhere
I'm not bothered by them - the exist but don't turn up that much for me - or I don't notice them :)

Yea, that's the one. For whatever reason it doesn't work on my system. I still get the tooltips with the tooltip window opacity attribute set at zero, and with the key in the config editor unchecked. [sigh]

I can't believe there isn't an easy option for this. Those things are annoying and basically useless. They almost never give you useful info, and really just get in the way.

Anyone else got any info on this?

Thanks, Tim
