Need help to Upgrade Vino from 2.18 to 2.20

Postby tdipower on Wed Sep 19, 2007 2:02 pm

Hi.

I'm running Linux Mint 3.0 and with it i get Vino 2.18. Vino 2.18 seem to have a bug with runing together with beryl. The screen won't refresh. This is solved in vino 2.19, ref: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... +bug/77442

But I can't find it in the repository in mint. How do I upgrade? I have found the 2.20 in tar.gz but I realy don't want to manualy upgrade, I would like the computer to do it for me. Anyone that can help?

It's in the rep. of Gutsy....

It's also found here: http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/N ... 8305.shtml

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Welcome to Mint tdipower
The page in your link contains a simple description of how to install.
I think you can fix that - first uninstall the version already there from synaptic is the easiest way to do it I think

Yes, I did see the install instruction and i have uninstalled the 2.18 ver. from my system. But I didn't know if I should manualy install it or if there was a upgrade path. And will it be runing as a service after this installguide? Guess it will start the same way and be able to enable/disable it from the CP. Guess I give it a try.

Now I have installed the vino 2.20 and no luck on geting connected remote. I needed to install 6 dev tools like gconf etc, and it seem to have installed correct, but I can't find any place to "start it" I have turned on the remote desktop in Control Panel but no luck there.

Anyone want to help a newbie?

I'm stuck....

Certainly - but I have no knowledge about vino, so we have to hope someone else has some knowledge

compiz prevents vnc from damaging the x server. This is an upstream problem, and has been for years. Not sure what the status is.
