Beryl isn't working

Postby Ezri on Sun Oct 28, 2007 6:15 am

I've just installed Mint Celena 3.1 and I have problems with configuring it.
I want to use Beryl but it seems it isn't working, nothing is happening when I press some shortcut.
How can I fix this?

I have one more problem. I want to use 1280x1024 screen resolution but when I set this right part of screen is out, I mean, it can't be seen- it too big (but it shouldn't be).
How to fix this?!

Tnx

Welcome to Mint Ezri
More info please
Which video card do you have?
Which monitor?
Before you start Beryl make sure you have 3D enabled. If you don't your screen will go completely white (sometimes black)
Then in the menu > Beryl manager
Right click Beryl manager and select Beryl as window manager.

Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

Well, I managed to fix resolution issue...

I'm running Mint on Vmware but I haven't installed tools, yet. Is this why Beryl won't work?

It may simply be that you can't have 3D under vmware
In Celena Beryl is installed by default.
But you have to start beryl manager and get the Beryl gem on the panel then right click the gem > Select window manager > Beryl

Think it's VMWare...
These are some links I found

Have not read them more than to see if there's some relevance

I guess VMware is guilty for my Beryl problems...

Well I had Ubuntu on my laptop and I have seen Beryl "in action" so I'll have live with the "Berylless" Mint :( :(
