Hi,
There's no upgrade path from Ubuntu to Linux Mint.. although you can use the Linux Mint repository and install mint applications such as mintdisk, mintdesktop..etc on your Edgy platform.

Edgy and Mint are essentially the same thing.
- If you want Linux Mint install Linux Mint.
- If you want mintDesktop, mintConfig, mintDisk..etc, add the repository and install them. They're made for Linux Mint but if you're lucky they'll work fine on top of other distributions. (I suppose they "could" work on dapper or edgy or sid or whatever.. not sure about that).
- If you want multimedia codecs for your distribution then install these multimedia codecs the way your distribution recommends.
See, it all depends on what you want. Flyboy_2 does have a point though. If all you're interested in is multimedia codecs for Ubuntu, then Linux Mint is not what you want, what you want is the codecs.. and automatix is one of the ways to achieve that.
