This illustrates clearly why you should look at what you are doing. If you mark libasound2 for removal in Synaptic you get a list of things also being removed - and that's about half your system
You will not get that back, you have to reinstall
In theory you could apt-get install the list but, but....

Theoretically you could apt-get everything back but the list is so long.....
And - yes I was surprised of the list of things removed as well

I am not at all sure, but it should be possible to install a newer version and use that for Skype if you can't upgrade...
Because an upgrade of it would be the best...

What laptop do you have?
And Mint xfce is less "hungry" but avoid the Daryna beta for now
