Moodle Database not running

I've installed Moodle from Synaptic package manager but it doesn't load when I enter the web address http://localhost/moodle/admin.

I get an error message telling me that the database may be overloaded or check config.php. Apache2 is running as is mysql-server so I'm at a loss to fathom this.

Are there any users of this that can help. Have had this software running successfully on previous Ubuntu distros.
