can't browse audio cd

Hi there guys,

when I put in an audio disc, it pops up sound juicer and I can either extract or listen to the files on the disc.

However, I want the original fies, so double click the audio cd icon, but nothing happens. Then I right click and choose "open" or "browse folder", but again, in both instances nothing happens.

So I open a file browser at my home folder, then click on audio cd icon. When I do it that way, I get the following error:
"cdda:///dev/hdc" is not a valid location.

Please check the spelling and try again.
This happens with both drives.

Remember that I can view the files through sound juicer, I just can't view them directly.

I also tried all the "cdrom" folders under /media, but they are all empty.

Help! :)

thanks,
json

Quoted from Linux forums newbie section
For browsing an audio cd you can't mount it because it is not a regular filesystem (unlike a data disk). What you need is an audio player
Do you want to copy the audio fies?

hi there husse and thanks very much for the reply.

Yes. They are audio clips I saved in the studio, and I need to save them to hard drive.

Hi

You could use K3b, choose Tools/rip audio CD/
Grip is in synaptic, install Lame as well.

(am 10 year KDE user so not up to date on Gnome applications)

Thanks for that - I get a headache from KDE - think it simply has to many options...
And to be sure - I definitely do not mean that KDE is bad!
I thought Soundjuicer could do the trick....

thanks very much guys for your replies. I'll just rip it to a lossless format and deal with it that way.

Thanks for your help though. I hadn't found anything yet where it wouldn't mount an audio cd. That helped a lot :D
