Can't "quit" from Daryna- SOLVED

Postby andyb on Sat Nov 17, 2007 3:36 pm

I've done a few forum searches, here and at the Ubuntu forums, but I can't see anyone else with this problem (or a solution!)

I upgraded to Daryna (clean install, using my existing "home" partition) today. Everything went smoothly, except that when I hit "Quit" from the menu, the system freezes. I then have to control/alt/backspace in order to shutdown, or to restart.

Not sure whether this is really a "newbie" issue- I feel sure there's an easy explanation! Never experienced this in Celena or Cassandra.

Thanks in advance for your help

Can't "quit" from Daryna

Postby andyb on Sat Nov 17, 2007 4:17 pm

Nick

Many thanks- this solved it:

"I downloaded Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy from the Ubuntu.com website and installed it, and the same thing happened to me. I clicked Main Menu>Quit and X11 froze. My mouse could still move around but I couldn't click on anything(Nor Type). I went into Menu>Synaptic Package Manager, and searched DBUS. I installed the packages: dbus-1-doc and dbus-x11 and now it works."
