This is a really hard nut to crack.....
There are several threads in the Ubuntu forums about this, one is about 450 posts long!

Maybe you can combine them.
I suppose "normal keyboard operation" is possible, it's just the special functions you want access to
I don't have a G15, but rather a more standard Logitech cordless, I don't think I should try any of that as I can't test.
Take it as a learning experience - if you go slow and methodical I think you can make it. In the process you'll see the power of the terminal :)

Don't be sorry - you are much more detailed in your answer.
There is something odd going on with "time" in this forum - it's happened several times to me that two answers not knowing each other appears even if the posts are half an hour apart
Ouch what sloppy language - but it's understandable I hope :)
