What happens is this: I install LM11 x64, apply all level 1-3 updates, manually install kernel 3.0.9, install acerhdf via
this script to quiten down the fan and improve battery life, reboot, and remove the old kernels. During the reboot, there was a very brief BSOD-like screen, but boot resumed normally. Also, although there is only one kernel to choose from (3.0.9), I get the grub screen waiting for me to choose a kernel. Anyway, when I then try to install another kernel, e.g. 3.2-rc2, the install hangs on update-initramfs. This now is the issue I couldn’t resolve the previous three installs, when it happend after a similar series of events. In one of those installs, I have seen it hang on a different module, though.
Any pointers you might be able to give me would be hugely appreciated!
