Are you using Compiz when tranquilizing your computer? Have you tried with Compiz deactivated?

Ok, let us do some debugging. Firstly, change to vesa driver (Control Center - Hardware - Screens and Graphics - Graphics card tab). Select the vesa driver, reboot and try sleeping with that. If that works, this is a driver issue and you just have to wait until it is fixed, maybe post a bugreport about it.
