http://linux-newbie.dotsrc.org/ or if you prefer to have a book to hand for reference, try 'Linux in easy steps' by Mike Mcgrath available from Amazon or elsewhere. That was the book that got me started on my Linux career it's mainly KDE based but it will take you from basic console commands to writing a looping scripts.
The best advice is to be patient, and take Linux a bit at a time. After a short while, and probably sooner than you believe, you will begin to think about your computer in a 'Linux' way, and then, all the power and potential of Linux will be revealed, and you'll be hooked. Have fun!
