Hello,
I'm new to Linux and Mint. I run a laptop with Mint (Bea) since a few weeks and install the offered updates on a regular basis. Last updates were installed Friday Feb. 2nd. When I rebooted the machine on Saturday Feb. 4 I got the message:
[17179571.416000] RAMDSISK: ran out of compressed data
[17179571.416000] invalid compressed format (err=1)
[17179571.416000] Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unkown-block(0,0)
As far as I can tell the last updates corrupted the kernel somehow.
I would like to know whether I can fix the issue. Alternatively I need a work around so I can get to the data, save it and re-install.
Any input is appreciated
Kind regards
Michael
