hello, i am having a problem getting mint to shut down on my laptop. when i select shutdown from the menu it either: -stops at the mint splash screen and i have to manually shut down - or - i get a list of what the computer is doing and then the screen goes blank except for a cursor in the upper left hand corner. this cursor doesnt respond by the way. i have tried editing the /boot/grub/menu.lst and adding apm=power-off and acpi=force to the default end option, this worked once or twice then starts again.
I have a Dell E1505
2.2 Ghz dual core pentium 4
1 gig 400mhz mem.
120 gig HD.
