Linux Mint Forums

Hi,

I'm a newbie to Linux / Mint from Portugal.

Currently unemployed, I have now much more time for trying to turn my Macbook Pro 2.2 (from 2006) to a brand new machine, running it in dual boot (Mac OS / Mint).

Will try to learn from all the Gurus and, hopefully, sometime in a distant future ( ) teach something to someone who goes through the same I've been.

Be sure also to check out the Community website (ideas, tutorials, and hardware and software reviews), and the Cinnamon Spices website for adding themes, applets and extensions to Cinnamon (and check out the Cinnamon Extras package, which will install a lot of these for your automatically). If you haven't installed Cinnamon, see here the most recent update for a teaser.

You can also chat in real-time with other Linux Mint users. In the Mint Menu, in the Internet section, start the application XChat IRC. You will automatically get connected to #linuxmint-chat for general chat and #linuxmint-help for support with other Linux Mint users.

Hey, Sorcey! Did you have any luck installing to your MacBook Pro 2? I'm interested in that as well. If you did, did you see great performance gains?

Hi there,

I installed it allright. Still, the problem was always the same - the trackpad. Couldn't get it to function properly, mainly the scrolling.

If it wasn't for that, would have kept it as main system.
