Hello

Hi. My forum name is dwmolyneux but you all can just call me Dallas. I'm a recent Linux convert but I'm not a complete newbie to the Linux world.

From 2004 to 2006, I attended college to get a degree in Computer Networking but was unsucessful as I ran out of money for school.

During my school course I was requried to take a class on Linux, which at that time was RedHat.
Things have come along way since in the Linux world.

I didn't have a very good teacher so I was left strugling to figure out what to do and so I ended up focusing on Microsoft Windows. This was fine up until the release of Windows 7 as all OS's prior were left to suffer sloppy code, lack of support, and all became more vounerable the harder they tried to secure it.

In my recent endevore to dive in to Linux I have tried a number of distro's and so far have found that Linux Mint fits me the best but I still have allot to learn on how to do the task that I need.

I'm fresh to the forums here but I am also on LinuxQuestions.org, as well as subcribed to a number of YouTube channels.

As a part of the forums here, I hope to have a pleseant learning experince and able to receive the help to get both my desktop enviroment performing as I would like and need but also my home network as well. I have a number of old dinasoar computers sitting around, collecting dust that I would like to put to work doing different task on the network. My home network is a mixed enviroment of both Linux and Windows (not by choice but I have a roommate that is stuck on Windows XP  ) where we also share our Internet connection.

I will do my best to post my questions as streamlined as possible but sometimes I'm not sure how to best do that, due to just not knowing that best way to go about it. If I post a question that seems....well...off...Please bare with me and it may just be that, it just needs to be explained out how to pull up and post the need information.

Well, nice to meet you all and thanks. :)

Hi Dallas, welcome to the Linux Mint forums :D Thanks for joining the forums!

Be sure also to check out the Community website (ideas, tutorials, and hardware and software reviews). You can also chat in real-time with other Linux Mint users. In the Mint Menu, in the Internet section, start the application XChat IRC. You will automatically get connected to #linuxmint-chat for general chat and #linuxmint-help for support with other Linux Mint users.
