Hello...

Postby LaineyG on Tue May 15, 2012 5:18 am

I thought I'd pop along and say hi. I'm a new Mint user of less than a month and I have to say it was the best thing I have ever done. I have a laptop still running Windows 7 and I had to use it the other day and it was sooooooo sloooowwwww. Once I find out how to get my mobile phone software running on Mint (there is currently no version available for Linux systems that I've found), then I will be switching the laptop over to Mint too.

I'm lucky to have a good group of friends who have helped me with my install and switch-over.

It really is a good thing and I'm glad I've done it!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hi Lainey, welcome to the Linux Mint forums :D Thanks for joining the forums! It sure helps to have a couple of friends that are already comfortable doing installations and such. I hope you continue to enjoy Linux Mint

Be sure also to check out the Community website (ideas, tutorials, and hardware and software reviews), and the Cinnamon Spices website for adding themes, applets and extensions to Cinnamon (and check out the Cinnamon Extras package, which will install a lot of these for your automatically). If you haven't installed Cinnamon, see here the most recent update for a teaser.

You can also chat in real-time with other Linux Mint users. In the Mint Menu, in the Internet section, start the application XChat IRC. You will automatically get connected to #linuxmint-chat for general chat and #linuxmint-help for support with other Linux Mint users.
