Hi there (it’s been a long time)

Postby w1k0 on Sun May 27, 2012 7:01 pm

About two years ago I started my registration here and today – thanks to the temporarily account „0k1w” as well as Vincent Vermeulen and oscar799 assistance – I managed to finish my registration as „w1k0”. I’m not regular Linux Mint user – I use Slackware on a regular basis – but I administer a few Linux Mint workstations used by my family members and by my friends. If someone asks me about recommended Linux distribution since 2009 I recommend Linux Mint. Before Mint I recommended Ubuntu, before Ubuntu – Mandriva/Mandrake, and before Mandrake – Red Hat. Before Red Hat Linux wasn’t usable for the ordinary people so the story ends there.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Your username looked strangely familiar  Welcome back to the forums w1k0 :D

Be sure also to check out the Community website (ideas, tutorials, and hardware and software reviews). You can also chat in real-time with other Linux Mint users. In the Mint Menu, in the Internet section, start the application XChat IRC. You will automatically get connected to #linuxmint-chat for general chat and #linuxmint-help for support with other Linux Mint users.

In fact „w1k0” is an abbreviation of my alternative personality’s first name and middle name. I use it here and there so it can look familiar indeed. Because of the technical problems concerning registration I was forced to use for a while the reverse version: „0k1w”. I don’t like it. It was invented ad hoc and it means nothing.

Your name is surprisingly familiar too. So far you’re the only one Linux Mint forum member which replied to „0k1w” and „w1k0” questions and announces posted here. All your replies were very helpful and I’d like to thank you once again. The other member – oscar799 – replied to my e-mail. So I think it’s good idea to add you both to my friends list.
