Long time reader. I usually figure out what I need to do to fix my problems via Google and as of late, this Forum. However since I've recently come across a new problem that involves EFI I've decided to register and ask for help here.

I'm a beginner in Linux. I've used Dos 3,4,5 -> Win 3.11 -> 95 -> 98SE -> ME -> XP -> Win7. I attempted Red Hat back in 1998ish, but was so lost that I never came back. I've only toyed with the idea of using Linux until recently. Mainly because Wine can run a lot of the games I like and I've kinda sorta not officially purchased Win7x64 due to owning Win7x86 because of a miscommunication regarding +4 ram usage. Mint 13 looks nice, though I like the Mint Debian desktop better. Wine support in the Debian side isn't very good. So I'm stuck with Mint 13 instead.

Kind of a side issue, the default Mint 13 install Firefox doesn't seem to have working spell check. It's turned on, just not working. I'll post on that one later.

Hi Kayot, welcome to the Linux Mint forums Thanks for joining the forums! I'm not sure why spell check wouldn't work for you on Firefox, you indeed need to just first enable it and then choose your language (or add a dictionary if your language is not included yet). I did install the aspell and myspell packages for my language, but I think that is only needed to add spell check to LibreOffice for my native language (I'm using Linux Mint in English, not my native language).

Be sure also to check out the Community website (ideas, tutorials, and hardware and software reviews), and if you picked Cinnamon as your desktop environment then also the Cinnamon Spices website for adding even more themes, applets and extensions to Cinnamon.

You can also chat in real-time with other Linux Mint users. In the Mint Menu, in the Internet section, start the application XChat IRC. You will automatically get connected to #linuxmint-chat for general chat and #linuxmint-help for support with other Linux Mint users.
