Hey all!
My computer had some issues starting sunday, and due to my ineptness at computing, my vista-ubuntu dual boot is now running mint v 13 (x64 mate). My vista partition was being buggy (even for vista, yes, very very buggy), and I went into ubuntu for the meantime. Unfortunately, my power ran out during an upgrade, and I couldn't boot anywhere. the most important issue was that my grub menu wasn't working (didn't load, as if I deleted it). Note that by this point I had vista working again (too cheap to upgrade, XP doesn't seem to work on it :/ ), and while I could have just installed another bootloader (like the grub menu again), I made the decision to reinstall ubuntu to have some place to fall back to in future scenarios. Since I had nothing important in Ubuntu, I meant to just pop the Ubuntu CD back in, wipe my old partitions for ubuntu, and install it again. But, after I wiped my old partition, somehow I managed to break my partition table?
Anyways, now my harddrive was pretty much screwed over, I could still access files, but I couldn't install anything without having to make a new partition table (and format the whole thing while at it).
I managed to get my files out (long story here), and in a strange twist of fate I decided to go with linux mint instead.
So far I'm not regretting it either.
I'm a really big noob at computers, I'm much better at android. I can't program at all, but seeing that I'm on linux now I might as well start, maybe HTML, bash or java. I get the basics to what terminal is supposed to do, but otherwise I'm pretty helpless at most commands. I made this account so I could ask questions/bother people.
anyways, TL;DR, messed up big time on computer, ended up installing linux mint. Hopefully y'all won't mind me asking questions.
