Hi all,

Long time Linux user. Been my desktop since 2001 (SuSE 6.1) Been using Ubuntu for the last few years, but you know what, I got bored of Unity. I moved to Windows 8 56 days ago because the Metro interface looked cool. But soon got tired of that - its useless unless you have a touch screen. So went back to Ubuntu 12.04 yesterday. Today, I wiped that and put Mint 14 Nadia and Cinamon on. Wow. It looks nice and its quick on my SSD drive.

As a user that embraced Unity because it was new, all I can say is: Thank God I've got rid!

I love Mint so far!! :)

Nik

Welcome aboard Nik :D I tried Metro on a Surface tablet, but that wasn't any better. Turns your entire operating system into a ribbon... Anyway, here are some tips to optimize Linux Mint for use with a SSD: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 03#p461796. Perhaps handy to tweak some extra performance and improve lifespan.
