Hej from Sweden!

Hej!

As you can see I'm Swedish, and I tried to register at the Swedish forum first, but I guess the admin there isn't very active :?

I come from Ubuntu like many other people; I never really became friends with Unity and a friend told me about Mint and MATE, so I thought I should test it and got hooked :D It fits me perfectly, and once again I can tell my computer-illiterate friends that they don't have to use Windows unless they want to play certain games :)

Edit: And I'm a huge language nerd, especially when it comes to Nordic languages. So feel free to speak Norwegian (both standards), Faroese and Danish with me :D Not Icelandic though, it's too different

I obviously speak English  Greek is trickier though, but I can kind of read the script.

Tack så mycket! (Swedish)

Welcome to the Linux Mint forums :D Impressive! I can manage two languages fluently, but the other two languages they tried to teach me in high school I haven't remember anything from. I did learn to say that I don't speak the language and can we please switch to English  We have a Swedish and Danish forum in the Other Languages section, but neither is very active.

Thank you :) But to be honest, the difference between written Swedish and written Danish and written Norwegian is like the difference between American (Swedish), British (Danish) and Australian (Norwegian) English to me. When you look at the vocab that is, when you look at the orthography the difference is a bit bigger but it's still not very big.

I noticed that about those two communities, and I tried become a member of linuxmint.se, but never got activated :? Too bad, since having local forums that beginners can turn to do help.

Yeah, the Danish section is even less busy than the Swedish. I guess the average Scandinavian poster is comfortable enough writing in English to need a Scandinavian language forum, and there's obviously a better chance of feedback when you write in English. I suggested once to have a pan-Scandinavian sub-forum instead of splitting it up in little empty norwegian/danish/swedish sections, but we're not even enough for that :D

Very little activity on the Danish and Swedish I see, and the Norwegian doesn't even exist. Ah well, using English is OK for me and I even insist on using US keyboards. Better for programming. 8)

The average Scandinavian making their way here is comfortable using English, yes, but not all people from Scandinavia trying Mint. I also think that we should get a pan-Scandinavian one, and preferably linuxmint.dk, linuxmint.no and linuxmint.se all would redirect to it. Maybe linuxmint.fo and linuxmint.is as well.
