Gray screen on NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700

I installed Mint 14 on new hard drive on Sony VGC-V617G all in one desktop, but have gray screen during and after install. Can bearly read desktop. Any suggestions to correcting problem?

Moved your topic here and updated the subject to include your problem. The NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 seems to not be well supported on Linux. Perhaps somebody here can offer additional suggestion.

I did find this topic on the Ubuntu forums with users have the same issues as you (comment #17): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1976161&page=2. I'm not sure as to the solution for it.

Can you add which desktop environment you picked (Cinnamon / MATE / Xfce / KDE) and whether you installed 32-bit or 64-bit?
