Egyptian here ! :)
Hi everyone
I'm Hussein, 27, from Egypt. I work as a private tutor of English.
I like reading about History, Philosophy, Law, Economics, Tech news, etc...not really a pro when it comes to novels hehe
I play guitar too but not so often. I also like chess, horse-back riding, pool, and bowling.
But my story with linux started when an engineer friend of mine; he liked what I used to do with the windows 98 and "me". I used to play with files and copy programs from inside windows itself. I remember I copied a program called "system file checker" (a program that "fixes" files and so on) from my own copy of windows and ran it on my friend's windows. Regardless it worked or not haha (it did scan and gave a report at the end of the scan, But I don't think it fixed anything haha) Well, he liked what I did and told me to try linux, a live pen-drive distro that works on windows, just to test the waters then if I liked it, I might download and play around with it.
and that's what I did I liked it and I tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu. and now I'm trying Mint.
It's great of course, with all the ability to edit and manage almost everything in it And the help community thing is really great! whatever distro we're talking about, there are always helpful great people one can find!
I'm not a geek and am not trying to be. I usually learn hands-on (it's call hands-on, right? I mean, to learn by application). I can't study (beforehand) all the algorithms and all that. I need to feel a "need" for learning first. (unless I have too! haha. I do like math, really. I remember explaining all the algebra and the differentiation and othe stuff as well to my friends, I enjoyed my time back at school) I won't say I have "new ideas" that will change the face of the linux world or anything like that, haha. Like, who's that greenhorn, noob who thinks he'll rock the world just because he has some noob passion!? I agree, haha.
I know it's a long long long journey to just understand how everything works and so on. But I'll try and do my best!
Anyways, I think I have talked too much, haha!
But I just wanted to introduce myself like the forum here says: Introduce yourself.
So, Hi, This was me. How are you all doing, folks!?
