New desktop, running Qiana Cinnamon.

Hi folks,
I'm new to linux, and am absolutely loving Mint 17 Cinnamon.
Back in college, I could throw together some ugly Matlab files for math and econ classes, but I failed programming because I was lazy. Now I have an interest and started to learn python awhile back with a class on edx.org, supplied by MIT.
While I was getting started, the old laptop was dying and Ubuntu 14.04 revived it. Then after saving some money, I decided to dive in and build a desktop to run Mint. I cluelessly forged ahead and bought one part at a time. Miraculously, it's up and running with no problems! Of course it's not really a miracle, because somebody worked very hard to make sure Mint had the proper hardware drivers. I'm thankful for this. Anyway, there's lots to learn and I look forward to doing so with the help of this community.
Kind regards,
