Greetings!

Post by crowtune »

I've been a Debian stable user since ~1998, but Linux was always a secondary OS to Windows. Gaming wasn't very good, the X interface was clunky, and multimedia was lacklustre. I started working in the tech industry about 4 years ago, and Linux became indispensable -- it was impossible to achieve the same level of scripting / development functionality in Windows... Python via the "Command Prompt"? Ha. :)

Since then, I tried Ubuntu, Arch Linux, and OpenSUSE, but always came back to Debian Stable. One of my esteemed coworkers recommended Linux Mint, and I got hooked after trying the KDE option. To date, I still run Debian stable as a media server, but my primary system is Linux Mint 17.1. I appreciate all of the work Mint's contributors have put in, as the experience has been stable and easy to configure. I look forward to sharing tutorials / writeups in the near future!

Welcome to Linux Mint, and the Mint forum. FYI, LMDE will be using Debian stable as a base some time in 2015, so you can have the best of both worlds. Debian Stable and all the Mint tools. :D
