Hi, I'm new to Linux..

Post by HyperMint »

Hey all, I just registered and thought I'd say hello :D
I've used Windows my whole life and a couple of weeks ago, out of the blue, I decided to give Linux a try. Had a look at a few different distros but finally settled for Mint Xfce (I like simplicity and efficiency). All I can say is... WOW  I can't believe how awesome this os is. I felt right at home from the start, everything just works right out of the box. And I'm not looking back  I'm in the process of learning command line which I find really exciting. I have some experience with C++ and DOS so I'm learning at a decent pace 8)
Anyways I very happy I went for Mint Xfce, I don't feel the need to try other distros, it's the perfect desktop for me :D
Thank you Mint Team!!!!

From a technical point of view it’s no longer tied to the Ubuntu schedule, so it could be released at any time, there’s no technical relevance between 14.10 and 17.1. Now, with that said, the 6 months cycle gave us rhythm and although quality and content dictate releases going public or being held back more so than dates or vague deadlines, the idea of a late November release is still there within the team and it helps us working towards that target.
