I am now retired; but am a very long time computer user - since IBM mainframe days. This history includes the use of M$ DOS and Windows since the 2.x days (IMHO 1.x was not worth the effort).
I wanted to pass on my heartfelt thanks to the Mint/Cinnamon team for their fine OS. I feel familiar enough to have happily made the transition from Windows, with the common exception for supporting some hardware devices, like my GPS, that the manufacturers' software only supports via Windows or Macintosh.
Obviously from the above, I still run a Windows machine occasionally, but the more I use Mint, the less I want to use Windows for the remaining tasks.
Once again, thank you.

From a technical point of view it’s no longer tied to the Ubuntu schedule, so it could be released at any time, there’s no technical relevance between 14.10 and 17.1. Now, with that said, the 6 months cycle gave us rhythm and although quality and content dictate releases going public or being held back more so than dates or vague deadlines, the idea of a late November release is still there within the team and it helps us working towards that target.
