I'm a new user from the USA, (New York metro area). This is a first post for me.
I haven't loaded a Linux distro on a PC in at least ten years!
My, my, my, Linux, you have come a long way with your snazzy GUI desktops and automated processes.
Over the last several weeks I have toyed with many distros but eventually settled-in with Mint Cinnamon 17.1
I also purchased a few books on Linux to try and tame the command-line learning curve too.
So. . . In a few weeks when I get savvy enough to ask a decent noobie question I'll be back.
BTW; since I re-discoverd Linux, I haven't gotten a damn thing accomplished at work, or at home, but I'm having a blast reading, tinkering, and learning!
A great forum here!
Cheers all,
-Ej-

Thanks for taking the time to drop by this forum section and post those greetings.
Looking forward to someday being forum-helpful rather than helpless.

Hi, Jake! Noticed your avatar. Were/Are you in AF Comm? I was in the 2150th CS at Minot about 20 years ago. Didn't retire, just served 6 years and got out. Really enjoyed the jobs I had, but really got tired of the bureaucrazy. Anyway, welcome to Mint. It's a smoooooth ride!

I was with the 2140th Comm Group out of Hellenikon Air Base, Greece.
However, I was not at the main air base, I was stationed at a remote radio site; Mount Pateras, a 14 man detachment about 90 minutes south of humanity, on top of a mountain.
Also spent some time at Aviano, Rhine-Main, Rickenbacker, and (of course) Keesler & Lackland.
Had two AFSC's; 304x0 and 303x1, (Wideband Radio Technician & Air Traffic Control Radar Tech).
Served from 1975 to 1981. Then worked as a civilian for a couple of years for a Defense Communications Agency contractor doing very similar work on Army & Navy DOD electronics equipment.
Here, this post gives a couple photos for a quick flash-back...

And LD, thanks for asking!
As you can see Off-Topic threads are my forte.

Thanks for the links!
My goal is to learn enough to ask a reasonable noob question.
Then, eventually, be experienced enough to answer a few questions!
And thanks again for you seasoned members coming down here to the ultra-noob section and giving us all a welcome-aboard !
Regards,
