Hi!

My name is Charles and I live 30 miles north of London, UK. I'm a retired ex businessman and scientist (now a long time ago). When I retired 10 years ago my home computer was on XP as that was the standard OS used at my workplace. Two years ago I started to try out Ubuntu - first in a dual boot situation. I very soon decided I could live without Windows and switched completely to Ubuntu (8.04).

When Ubuntu issued the next LTS (10.04) I decided to upgrade but did some research on the alternatives. I was very impressed with the favourable review of LM on Distrowatch and also spent some time looking at the LM forums. This soon convinced me that I should switch to Isadora rather than Ubuntu 10.4. The installation was very straightforward (I'd backed up all my data of course) and I manually partitioned to set up a separate /home partition this time. LM recognised all my hardware and I have had no problem with the display or sound. A very pleasing experience compared with the installation of Ubuntu 8.04 2 years ago.

I feel very at home with Mint and look forward to staying for a long time and I'd like to send greetings to the Mint community.

My main non computer interest is classical music (my member name is the clue) and my 700+ CDs take up much of my spare time.

All the best to you all!

Charles
