Hi all,
Just to say hello from Panama, Central America.
I'm a not-so-newbish linux user. Recently I noticed that I first installed Ubuntu 8.04. At that time I was still dual-booting. Around 9.04 or 9.10, my XP install went belly up with some nasty virus and seeing (sp?) that I was mostly using Ubuntu, I took the plunge and stopped dual booting.
As I do (among other things) stock photography, I need to use software such as Photoshop (please no GIMP mentions ) so I virtualize heavily. Used VMware, but now use VirtualBox running in seamless mode.
Why Mint now? Well, quite frankly I didn't like the path that Ubuntu was taking and one day, while running 10.10, it just stopped booting. I must confess that my days of PC tweaking stopped around DOS 5.0! So, fed up, I installed Fedora 13. No problems there. The Fedora 14... problems there!
One day I rebooted and was greeted by a message that said: "Boot failed, sleeping forever".
And I remembered that I have used Mint on my laptop, so I figured that I would take it for a spin and wow, what a nice surprise to just install and have everything work!
Of course I tweaked the look-and-feel, but it's still Mint Julia, with Gnome and Compiz.
Thanks to the people that makes this great piece of software.
Cheers,
NugMeister (Humberto)
