Hello everyone,
Excited about joining this community. I have joined here and the Ubuntu forum. Have always been a 'tinkerer' with Windows and messed with Linux on the rare occasion but never really spent any time with it
.
Now I have finally decided to quit Windows 'cold-turkey' because I have a couple computers and I don't feel like messing with another new OS, the cost and the drm of using it on different systems, etc... so, here I am!
I have to be honest, I had only tried Ubuntu until recently because it seemed the 'most-similar' to Windows. Now I have a live CD for about 5 distros and I have Mint and Ubuntu installed on my home machine ~ using Mint as my main install. I am liking it for the most part. I have had some issues with Wine and gaming but a decrease in my gaming time is probably not a terrible thing! I did get Starcraft going on the first try, so I was pretty excited about that.
Anyhow, I love to mess with my computer to see what I can get away with. I think I have installed these OS's about 20 times in the past few days and I am having a blast. Wish I would have taken some computer classes in college (U of MD, CP) but I look forward to learning this new (for me) frontier.
Can't wait to be one of the people offering help instead of begging for it
