Hi from newbie !!!

Postby Timo7 on Fri Feb 04, 2011 9:04 am

hi I am Timo from northern ireland UK. I am new to linux and fairly new to computers. After installing Mint, I was having a look around and then decided to update. In the middle of the update my laptop frooze. When i got it back up I tried to update again, I was informed on-screen

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

I copied and pasted 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' and pressed enter in the terminal.
When back and tried to "update again" it just returns to the same info. If anyone can point me in the right direction to fix this, your help will be greatly appreciated.
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place,
Any help much appreciated Timo :D :shock: :D

After 1hr I tried typing it in without the '' It responded---- sudu password--- so I typed my password in. All now seems well I THINK LOL
