Another Ubuntu escapee
Hi All,
I have had to abandon Ubuntu after the complete disaster that was release 11.10. I won't bore you with tales of lost emails etc. I want an os that is reliable and supports the apps I want to use. I seem to have found that in Mint. After a false start (I bought a distro that proved to be way out of date). I have now got LMDE up and running. Very please so far, wireless worked out of the box, a first!. Plenty of questions, like is Evolution stable under LMDE and can I set up multiple workspaces ? Those probably for later. In the meantime I'll continue to enjoy and transfer my data.

Welcome to the Mint forums.
You can ask for help here, but we do also have a chatbox where you can ask for help. You can open XChat in the menu to get there.
Setting up multiple workspaces is just a matter of adding the workspace switcher to the panel. You can also use Ctrl-Alt + arrow keys.

You "bought" a distro? I hope you didn't buy Mint. It's free, you know!
Welcome!

No. I paid to have it delivered on a CD (about £5) as I am fairly restricted on data volume (4 gb/month) on my satellite internet connection.Aethyr wrote:You "bought" a distro? I hope you didn't buy Mint. It's free, you know!

The CD webshop to which www.linuxmint.com links indeed offers very old versions like Mint 3.

Jeez... I just spent an hour trying to figure that one out.Setting up multiple workspaces is just a matter of adding the workspace switcher to the panel.
Thanks for the tip, AlbertP!
I'm a LMDE newb too (obviously)... another refugee from Ubuntu 11.10 / Unity, Finally got tired of that abomination and ran Debian stable for couple of months... couldn't get it to go to testing or sid without hosing my system, so I'm about 24 hours in on LMDE, and and quite content here!
