I am currently using Ubuntu 11.10 + Gnome Shell, but since I moved everything into my new PC which uses an ATI gfx card, gnome-shell has been crashing randomly, this didn't happen when using NVidia.
Anyway I love the fact that Mint comes with gnome, so I think I am going to be testing for stability and maybe start using it as main OS. I also love the MGSE, I am not an expert but I had customized some extensions myself by mixing features from multiple extensions, like the bottom panel, I had added the "show desktop" button before knowing about MGSE like this:

I also added the "show desktop" icon, the "notifications icon" and moved the panel to the bottom for this extension https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/25/window-list/, which I think is the best window list extension so far. It has thumbs preview and grouping, and it looks beautiful.
But I have a problem, the window list is centered like this:

and I can't make it start from the left.
Now, a question... Will the Mint installer be able to automatically install on an HDD that already has Ubuntu installed without breaking grub or anything like that? Or will I have to do some manual work to get Mint installed along with Ubuntu
