just take some caution because the servers are still under heavy load and can break anytime; if you don't get a clean output don't do it today.rdonnelly wrote: The update was going fine, then it stalled. I will run it again and see what the out put was.
Bob
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
I had the same problem after the update. Startx worked, so I ranrdonnelly wrote:I got it all installed and I could no longer start the desktop, it booted to command line. For now I restored the partition with Clonezilla, there must be something in that pack that is messing with the video that should be ignored? My specs are in my sig.
This poster ignored the xserver and other files, but I am not sure I would ignore the other files? http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... =xorg#wrap
Thanks Bob
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg-reconfigure mdm
You did that from command line when the GUI would not load?zombie wrote:I had the same problem after the update. Thanks Bob. That fixed the problem.Code: Select all

Yes. Actually I logged in as root and ran the command without sudo. After that the computer booted to the mdm login screen.rdonnelly wrote:You did that from command line when the GUI would not load?zombie wrote:I had the same problem after the update. I installed Mint meta mate, but terminal still NG. Should I run dist-upgrade from a reboot recovery mode? I can not longer use the gui terminal.melbo wrote:Make sure you run the post-upgrade tweaks:

You may also want to run dist-upgrade rather than upgrade when moving to a new update pack.
Thanks Monsta, that was an easy fix!Monsta wrote:Have you used Mint-X-Metal theme before? Because your issue looks just like this one.
